The 22 year-old Senegalese street vendor, Cissé Elhadji Diebel, was shot and injured in the Vasto neighbourhood near the Central Station. The young man was on the street with two friends around 10 pm, when two people riding a scooter shoot him with several gunshotswithout reason. “We were chatting and then we saw these guys approaching. They still had a helmet on their heads when they fired, for no reason. They ran away without saying anything” said the victim who was taken to the hospital for surgery.

The young Gambian Buba Ceesay, 24, was hit by two gunshots. “I was going back to the parish, when two men came toward me by bike and shouted ‘dirty black, you bastard’. Then I heard the strong bangs. Fouad Bamaarouf, 45, of Moroccan origins and an Italian citizen since 2016, received violent shots to his face and stomach from a neighbour. The attackers had previously insulted him numerous timesbecause of his Moroccan origins. Two episodes of verbal violence preceded physical aggression. Someone knocked on his door at midnight. When he opened, a fist hit Fouad in the face and another in the abdomen, violently, causing him to fall to the ground. The attacker fled away and Fouad could do nothing but call the emergency number. The diagnosis reports a blunt force injury to the head and abdomen and five days of prognosis.

A twenty-year-old Nigerian citizen was slapped and punched near Viale Italia by a young Italianaccompanied by three other people. For the bruises reported, the young man was medicated in the emergency room, where he was diagnosed with a nasal fracture and excoriation on one leg. 10 days of prognosis. The homeless victim did not want to make a complaint.

Four North African citizens, working in the fields of the Agro Pontino area, decided to protest for the non-payment of their salaries for over two months. A violent argument arose with the owner’s father. The land owner arrived on the spot and left, but while going away invested one of the immigrants, injuring him. The businessman claimed later to have been attacked. The North African received 30 days prognosis, while the land owner was reported for injuries to the police.

Six unaccompanied foreign minors (five Gambians and one Ivorian), guests of a community, were insulted with racist phrases and then attacked on the beach with a club by fifteen people, almost all young people from the area. They beat the minors, tugged and insulted the social worker. They also chased the group just behind the bus driving them back home, with four cars shouting “blacks of shit, we kill you”. The minors were heard by the carabinieri together with the manager and the operator of the Mediterranean reception center and a complaint was filed against the unknown. Seven arrests, less than a month later, decided by the judge for preliminary investigations against an entire family. Private violence and injuries with the aggravating circumstance of “racial hatred”, the accusations contested by the prosecution.

A Cameroonian citizen, 43, was hit by a swoop shot from a window, while walking in the city centre.After the researches pursued by the carabinieri, the offenders of such an intimidating act of were identified: three young friends, a man 19 year old and two minors. They were immediately reported for aggravated injuries since according to the reconstruction of the events, the three men “were having fun by trying a shotgun from the window but something went wrong and it went off”. They tried to defend themselves, despite not even having a gun license. The Latina Public Prosecutor’s Office will verify whether this is an intentional and targeted attack on the black migrant. The man, injured on the foot, is not in serious condition, the prognosis is 5 days.

Around 16.45, in Via Sant’Isaia, a Bengali tradesman was beaten with a stick by three individuals who shouted on him racist insults(“You sh***y n***a!”.). They left the place declaring themselves as “fascists” saying they were in command. The three showed up in the grocery store and started to discuss. They then moved from words to fights, using the stick that the merchant uses to close the shop’s gate. Another Bengali neighbouring merchant came to hep his compatriot but was himself beaten up. After the “punitive expedition”, the three individuals fled.

A young man of Dominican origin was insulted and beaten by a group of people in a restaurant parking lot along the seafront. The aggression took place for “futile reasons”. Apparently, at the end of the meal, the young Dominican asked for a dessert but the waiter refused to give him the menu. After paying the bill, the victim left the room to take his car and approached the front door, so as not to tire his pregnant wife. At this point, a couple of people approached them and shouted at him bad racist comments. Soon after, the attackers begin to punch the car window while screaming and keeping on insulting him. The man got out of the car to check the damage, he was then reached by a waiter who was holding a piece of wood in his hand and ordered him to go away. He said: “Let’s get rid of this dirty black man he cannot make himself at home, we are in Calabria here, hit him! ” The man was then hit with punches and kicks, and then with an iron bar. The magistrate issued five orders for precautionary custody under house arrest for the offenders who are in charge for aggravated injuries with “purpose of racial hatred”.

On the beach of Is Arutas, a Senegalese street vendor refused to render the money to an unsatisfied client for a defective air-mattress. After a heated discussion thetourist hitt him with a several punches in the face, in front of dozens of swimmers that crowd the famous beach. The carabinieri and the 118 arrived on the spot. The tourist was heard for the report written by the carabinieri, while the Senegalese street vendor ended up in the emergency room.

Last night, two young North Africans were found on the ground bleeding and beaten: they were victims of a violent beating. The emergency doctors pull them off the street and transported them to the hospital. The most seriously wounded was hit in the back, face and arm. The doctors at Eboli Hospital had to apply dozens of stitches on the grave lesions. The compatriot reported less serious damage and has already been declared out of danger.

A 45-year-old man from Como has been reported for injuries and threats after punching an Albanian beggar on the face, only because he was insisting in in begging for alms. According to the agents reconstruction of the events, the man has also threatened two club waiters who intervened to ease the tension. The police pursued the required checks on the offender finding out he was keeping 3 guns at home, they were seized for preventive purposes.

A Gambian guest of the “Solidarity” migrants reception centre was going to Melfi by bus, so to work as a social worker in a structure of the same cooperative that hosts him. As soon as he got off the bus, he was attacked by a young Italian man who slapped him, stretched one of his fingers and shouted: “You n***a! I will kill you“. The victim told the carabinieri that he heard a girl on the bus shouting: “It’s not him”. At that point the attacker went away getting on a car with another person. The Gambian man went to the emergency room and received a five days prognosis, reporting a contusion to the left side of the face and to the finger.

The victim manages to escape, but the two men continue to overthrow chairs and tables in front of dozens of people standing still.

A middle-age businessman began to throw stones insulting all the black people who passed under his balcony. The apparent reason was to engage in a personal battle to shut down the Tuscan-Senegalese restaurant, recently opened just beneath his house. The man carried stones and sharp pieces of glass on the terrace so to throw them down. The scene happened even in the presence of a four-year-old Italian girl, who is the daughter of the owners of “Sapori d’Africa e toscani”. Two black young men among those injured, they were wounded on the legs just after they had dinner in the restaurant and were going back home. The man threatened to fire with a gun shouting: “Shitty Senegalese”, “shitty black people” and even “sons of a b***h!”.

A 19-year-old boy from the Ivory Coast was punched by the father and a relative of a 16-year-old girl he was talking to, in front of many people, on the waterfront. The boy did not react and was taken to the hospital. Despite having reported only some bruises, he remains in shock. Later, the boy reported everything to the police. When questioned by the agents, the girl confirmed the victim’s version, that is: he was not bothering her at all, they were only chatting. The father of the girl and the other relative were then reported for assault.
